    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As a Device Prototyping Intern at BAT, I was involved in various aspects of research and development, testing and refining prototypes and collaborating with different functions. This role offers hands-on experience in the early stages of product development, allowing you to contribute to innovative projects and gain valuable insights into the industry. Furthermore, I assist my team in the build and manufacture of parts and assemblies to warrant peerless capacity.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, working with the Electronics Team allowed me to develop myself on a professional level. This aided me with task and time management and consequently allowed me to carry out my responsibilities diligently.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support throughout my placement with respect to my project and with respect to personal growth as well. Working alongside my peer on my project allowed me to build experience and insights on how I can manage my own tasks and responsibilities and also allowed me to understand the work and development being carried out within my function. I was also able to build a lot of skills through this which helped personal development and made sure I was in the right mental space for my day-to-day work.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at BAT. The innovative and collaborative environment provided numerous opportunities to engage in various projects and helped develop my technical skills. The dynamic, fast-paced atmosphere kept me motivated and focused at the task at hand along with other responsibilities I had within my department. Furthermore, the emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and professional development made it a supportive and enriching experience. Working alongside talented colleagues and contributing to meaningful initiatives was both rewarding and inspiring.
