Overview
My role included conducting tasting panels, and working with the Delicious Food team to benchmark and improve products whilst ensuring they meet required specifications and standards.
Skills
During my placement I have learnt to expand on my current skills such as communication, time management, presentation and ability multi-task different projects. New skills I have developed is writing reports for key stakeholders, networking within the food industry and using initiative with specific tasks.
Responsibilities
I was given specific tasks and projects during my placement. The first 6 months I was provided with tasks that would support the immediate team then as the month progressed, the responsibility got higher to allow me to manage a project alone from start to finish.
Support & Guidance
I received a great amount of support and guidance during my placement. Management always want to push you out of your comfort zone and ensure that you believe in yourself for the industry ahead but are there to discuss any worries or concerns. I feel as though I have grown professionally since starting and now going back to university to finish my final year.
Culture
The company culture is great, it's very inclusive and offers depths of opportunities that you can get involved in. I loved working in the impressive 1AS building as it is a great open space and provides a sense of community. There is a lovely company culture, everyone is really friendly and social.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement very much as I have created a great network of people who I hope to come across again in my career in the food industry. I got involved in different opportunities that allowed me to make close connections to different colleagues around the company and always said 'yes' to new things to push myself out of my comfort zone.
Yes
Push yourself out your comfort zone, always expand your knowledge and learning by asking questions, explore different departments build connections and say yes to opportunities as it could be the only time you get it!
