    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The team that I worked in was very friendly and I was given a vareity of interesting work to do which did not include any photocopying! It was very well organised and the trainees took us out for drinks after work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The department that I was in was very welcoming and made time to talk to me. They invited me to their events. I was thanked for all of the worked that I did for people.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor gave me alot of work and a lot of guidance on that work. He was very approachable if I was stuck or had nothing to do.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always had something to do but it was never more than I could finish by the end of the day. When I hadn't finished I was allowed to go home and carry on with the research in the morning as the work that I was given wasn't urgent.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had enough responsibility and was actually given interesting work to do but at the same time it was only small parts of cases so I didn't feel like I would loose the company millions if I did something wrong. The went through most of the work that I did with my supervisor as well.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I gained expereince of assesment centres which will be extremely useful for my career. The research skills I developed will be useful for university and for a training contract. I think the whole expereince will be useful for a training contract becuase it was essentially a short training contract. I think the general expereince of working in an office has been useful aswell.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was fun and the people were all friendly and interesting. They had time to stop and chat and there was alot of joking. As you would expect from a law firm there is always a certain level of seriousness.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was organised really well. On the first day they ensured that we had all the information we would need for the week and gave us training on how to use the resources. They had organsied interesting workshops and events with the trainees throughout the week. The departments were ready for us and had work for us to do.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They gave us a lot of training considering that we were there for a week . I wouldn't say that they invested everything in us as we were only going to be there a week.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been told that completing a vacation placement helps to get a training contract here if you impress them. I haven't heard back from them yet though.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everyone was very friendly and it didn't feel like we were competing against each other. We all went for lunch together and drinks after work.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Drinks in Leeds are cheap and I communted from York which meant no living costs and low transport costs aswell.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Leeds has a great nightlife, loads of bars and lots of people.
