Overview
Running simulations using Finite Element Analysis, creating/editing single panel and assembly location strategies, conducting panel feasibility assessments, working with various departments across the business to ensure that body panels meet the requirements set by different teams.
Skills
Learnt and developed many technical skills specific to the business and role, as well as many general and social skills such as presenting ideas, teamworking, time management, collaboration, independent research, decision making, technical efficiency and more.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility incredibly quickly at JLR, working on live files within less than a month of starting the role. Throughout the year, I have gotten increasing levels of responsibility, running meetings and presenting ideas, and working on projects or tasks without supervision or help. At the same time, colleagues are very willing to help and explain things if needed.
Support & Guidance
There was never a time throughout the placement that I felt that I did not have any support in what I was doing, even when completing solo tasks or projects people would always be happy to help if asked. The environment is relaxed and easy-going so I felt completely comfortable asking for help any time I needed.
Culture
My colleagues have always been extremely easy to both work and get on with, as such the culture and atmosphere has felt relaxed and comfortable. Although there is deadlines and objectives to meet, the team atmosphere has helped me to ever keep from feeling too pressured. There is also a lot of opportunities to get involved with different things and meet different people if you do not get on with your team as well.
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed all parts of the placement, JLR has been a great company to work for. The people are social, the work is interesting and the benefits are competitive.
Yes
Be as prepared as you can for the application process, but don't get too stressed out for it, the interviewers aren't out to get you.
