    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Mostly editing the models to get a more specific output. Due to the models design, they had multiple different ways of presenting waste data. Different sites also had different ways of dealing with and categorising waste. Often edits requested would need some additional data from the site, which can take some time.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Prior to starting i had thought that i was proficient in excel due to my using it a lot at university. I quickly realised that i was no where near as good as i thought so did a course which got me up to speed.

  • Yes, the first model i built was for the site that produces the most waste in the network. The second one was for a site that I was able to visit and I built this one solely by myself so was given free reign to built it as i pleased.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • When I was busy I enjoyed the process of building the models, but there was a lot of waiting around for data from sites which often made the process tedious. Also the data would mostly never be in the desired format, so there was a lot of data formatting which was probably the most dull part of the job.
