Overview
My role involves acquiring data and packaging it into different data sets. I work on many different geographical based projects and conduct quality checks on these projects once done. I also have a stand-up every morning to update my colleages on what I've done and what i will be doing. My responsibilities involve communicating with my team members and analysing data sets.
Skills
I have learnt many different skills, from soft skills to technical skills. I have definitely learnt the value of verbal and written communication aswell as teamwork. I have used many different softwares in my placement so I have enhanced my coding skills, my analysis skills and definitely my problem solving and debugging skills.
Responsibilities
I was given a decent amount of responsibility, in the sense that my tasks weren't "made-up" or irrelevant, and I had to stick to time frames. But my line manager was always sensible in the level of responsibility given to me and always understood the need for more time and allowed me room to make mistakes and didn't put pressure on me.
Support & Guidance
I recieved a lot of support from both the Early careers team and my line manager, from sessions held to build our skills to just informal 1-1 conversations. Everyone is incredibly friendly at Experian in general and there is support available every single time I needed it. My line manager/scrum master definitely made my placement, he made sure I was never overwhelmed and was always there to provide support and assist.
Culture
The company culture is very friendly and flexible, everybody is approachable and the nature of the work is reflected in everybody's friendliness and openness.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it a lot, I came into my placement with no expectations and very little background knowledge, and I still managed to enjoy it and gain a lot of key skills from this.
Yes
My advice would be to be yourself and to be open to discussing your interests even if they seem irrelevant to the role.
