Overview
Using excel to check invoices sent, figure out discrepancies and why they occurred, looking at competition in the market and where we are positioned, speaking to different teams about campaigns being launched and how to get them live.
Skills
Hard skills like excel and analysis of financial discrepancies, ways to improve processes, powerpoint and slides building, managing a team. Soft skills like networking and relationship building in office with colleagues in different hierarchies
Responsibilities
Yes - you could see where your work was being used and how it was used in the decisions of higher management. Although still was not over pressurising and more than a university student can handle so very good balance.
Support & Guidance
A lot. The team was very understanding and despite incredibly busy schedules they still took the time to explain things and make sure i also knew what was going on. People around the business as well were willing to guide and help you, there is opportunity to be mentored.
Culture
Very social and kind, everyone helped eachother and got involved in discussions easily, there is a lot of extra events put on, e.g., during the Euros each team got a country and the office was decorated with flags - the office isn’t boring, it’s lively and you feel like the company cares about the people enjoying their time there.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement, met some wonderful people and came out so much more developed and skilled than when i started, not just in my role but as a person. It was way better than i was expecting, especially considering it was my first office job.
Yes
Be yourself in the interview stages, they are people same as you and they want to fit you in the team they believe are truly like you, so being yourself means you get to spend the year with people similar
