    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Managed the day-to-day reporting process for the entire brand, providing stakeholders with detailed insights into current order take and sales performance. Responsible for the upkeep of the systems used to generate essential reports, ensuring accurate and timely information dissemination. Attended and presented at weekly meetings to showcase our current market position, while also recording minutes and actions. Analyses trends to generate a forecast of future sales and order take and implements solutions to achieve these projections. Initiated the transition of all reports to PowerBI and trained colleagues on how to use the new reports.

  • I have gained many skills but 6 that stand out are being able to work on my presenting skills, really improving on my team work ability, developed on my proactiveness, improved my problem solving and gain technical skills and industry knowledge that was relevant to my role. I have also been able to develop my statistics skills of data analysis which will help my in my degree

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I felt like i was treated as a normal co-worker so was given similar responsibilities to the rest of my team. This was gradual as for the first 6 month i was still learning so they didnt want me to feel overwhelmed but once i was confident in my role i was given extra tasks just like everyone else.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My team was extremely supportive as well as everyone else in the business. Since VWG has had undergraduates for long periods of time everyone in the business knows when we start so they know at what stage we are in our development journeys so tailor their requests to that.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was great. There were lots of events and there are group within the company that employees can join which represent certain minorities such as "we drive proud" and "driven women". The general atmosphere was great aswell as it felt like you could chat with working so it wasnt too intense as long as you got your work done.

  • I really enjoyed my placement and it has made me want to come back to the business. My team and the business as a whole has made this placement really great by the support and opportunities they gave.

  • Just make sure to be yourself throughout the recruitment process as hiring managers select the undergraduates so to be able to enjoy a year with a team which are similar to you its best to be yourself.
