Overview
My main role consist of creating drainage models and developing drawings for different stages of design. The main types of software I have used include Microdrianage, Civil 3D AutoCAD and Bentley Open Roads designer.
Skills
I've learnt how to use software more proficiently and how to use excel to run advance calculations.
Responsibilities
I was give some responsibility but not a lot because of the way the organisation structure works. As a placement student there are many others in the company above you that have more responsibility.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of guidance especially in the beginning of my placement. It is important to note the guidance is only generally given if you ask questions.
Culture
Amazing company culture. I really appreciate the values of the company and the care they have for their employees.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it but I think like trying all new things it comes with challenges, such as adjusting to working full time. I was surprised to see how different working in the industry is to studying in University which took time for me to get used to.
Yes
Be authentic to who you are, there is a very diverse workforce full of a range of different people and personalities. I think authenticity is really appreciated.
