Overview
Utilizing Hilton's ESG platform, LightStay, to monitor monthly consumption reporting and carry out data quality checks and compliances chases. Pulling consumption, cost and guest satisfaction data into a master excel file which is then released monthly as a report to hotels so they can track their progress against targets. Regularly responding to queries from hotels on their data and targets and following up with hotels whose consumption is either too high or too low.
Skills
I have learnt how to use PowerBI and excel query during this internship which is a skill I have been able to use to create tools for the team to increase efficiency of tasks. I have developed my communication skills which was one of my main goals for this year. I am pleased to have had plenty of opportunity to present in front of large audiences and work on adjusting my tone and projecting my voice. I have learnt how to prioritize tasks and ensured I meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
Yes I was given lots of responsibility during my internship. A few of these include being responsible for the props for our conference workshop activity where I had to communicate with a design team and ensure the props were ready of time and all the content had been spot checked so there were no errors. One of my main responsibilities was ensuring all the correct data was pulled into the Driving Value report and that this was released on time.
Support & Guidance
I received so much support from all members of my team. Everyone was always so clear in what they expected from me in projects and tasks and what deadlines I had to meet. My manager, Paulina, constantly checked in with me to ensure I could manage all the work I had been given and offered to support where needed. Everyone was always happy to give me constructive feedback as they all wanted to see me improve and reach my full potential.
Culture
The atmosphere was always positive. The work environment was very social and there were plenty of opportunities to network and interact with other teams during events. I really liked all the TMRG events and it was great to witness the company promoting diversity and inclusion and the panel sessions were always so informative and interesting. Overall, the culture was incredibly motivating and supportive and I was made to feel like an integral part of the team.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement as I was constantly supported and my team were very keen to see me increase my confidence and expand my skill set so I was given plenty of opportunities to improve. I really loved how social working in the office was and felt I was always able to ask for help if I needed it. I enjoyed networking and speaking with team members both in the office and in the hotels and building strong working relationships.
