Overview
I have been involved in managing all first-year Risk programs, from selecting the best candidates to preparing the logistics of the internships and discussing them with various senior stakeholders within the firm. Additionally, I have hosted assessment centers, designed content for our university campaigns, and visited our partner universities in London to hold Eco Booths and skill sessions.
Skills
I have developed strong communication skills. My day-to-day responsibilities include meeting with a wide range of individuals, from candidates and teammates to senior stakeholders. I have particularly enhanced my email-writing and meeting skills, especially as a non-native speaker. I have also learned to be agile, as working in a dynamic environment requires constant adaptation to new policies and regulations, as well as addressing challenging questions from candidates and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Yes, I have been involved in multiple projects this year, including visiting universities, designing content for our virtual school events, managing all first-year Risk roles, coordinating logistics with various stakeholders, and hosting assessment centers. I have been granted considerable autonomy in these projects. For example, as a host of assessment centers, senior team members come to us, the placement students, for guidance.
Support & Guidance
This year, I have been part of the Northern Team, often participating in the recruitment process for the Northern region. Although I am based in the London office, we have daily huddles, weekly one-to-one meetings with my managers and team members, and monthly team meetings that allow me to travel to Northern areas such as Manchester and Newcastle for team meals and overnight stays. I have felt strongly included and supported by the team.
Culture
People here are really supportive. I have participated in various conversations with individuals both within and outside the Student Recruitment team. Colleagues are always generous in offering assistance, whether it's helping our team host an event or simply answering questions. The company also values recognition and care. We receive GEMS, which can be exchanged for coupons, as well as verbal and written recognition within the larger Talent Acquisition Team. Even as a placement student, I have been recognized multiple times by senior managers with GEMS and verbal acknowledgments in large meetings, which encourages me to continue my hard work.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed the placement, as I have learned many essential soft skills necessary for the corporate environment. People are very supportive, from senior members of the firm to interns.
