    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Every week is different in my role. But throughout my placement I have supported the other members of my team with their tasks, I have created resources that have been shared to senior leaders within the organisation, I have created and presented a website to colleagues across Global regulatory sciences. I have also filled in surveys on the company's behalf. There are also other extra circular opportunities that I have been able to be a part of through Pfizer.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Presentation skills - this has improved dramatically through presentations that I have done as part of my role, but also the other courses that Regulatory undergraduates at Pfizer are able to be a part of. Writing skills - I have been able to write reports and have received feedback on these which has greatly improved my writing skills.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • It is difficult in my role to give students much responsibility as a lot of the work is external and takes a long period of time (my placement is only 12 months and much of the work will take 5+ years to complete). However I was given tasks that I was the coordinator for e.g. creating a website.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • This has varied throughout my placement due to internal changes at the time. However currently I feel very supported - I meet with my manger at least once a week for our 1:1 which is where I can raise any issues. The only slightly negative thing is that one of my team are based at my site so I have no in-person interaction with them/all our meetings are online.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?
  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?
  • 4/5

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Also varied due to internal changes within the company at the time. I also think that the experience of placement students is very varied depending on which role you have e.g. I am global so very few of the colleagues know what a placement student is so aren't always sure what level of work I should be doing.

  • How would you rate the inclusiveness of the culture?
  • 4/5

  • How would you rate the social opportunities?

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Varied - I had manager changes and a lot of disruption in the first 3 months of the placement but now I am enjoying it more. The work isn't always constant, there are often times where I don't have that much to do, but I am able to take part in extra-circular opportunities in these times.

  • 7. Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer
  • take all the opportunities you can - be involved in projects outside your role. I am really interested in government affairs so I asked to be involved with a GA project, even though it isn't really relevant to my role.
