Overview
Anything from clipping coverage, to selecting influencers to attend events. to attending those events myself, creating reports of our social media performance each month, ordering and sending out products, going BTS at LFW, and some graphic design too.
Skills
Absolutely, My communication skills and confidence have shot right up. I've had the opportunity to write press pitches to journalists at publications like Vogue, which has also greatly improved my writing skills. My understanding of social media and brand online representation has also grown exponentially.
Responsibilities
I was given many projects to lead and own. I liked the dynamic between my line manager and assistant line manager, I felt it meant i was given enough responsibility in my day-to-day role without feeling overwhelmed.
Support & Guidance
I felt very supported and could talk to my team if I needed help.
Culture
I liked the intern camaraderie, there were a lot of us so a very social vibe. The company is very large and corporate though, so sometimes approvals take a long time and it is hard to be reactive to trends. I would describe the structure as quite tall, but I think I got lucky with the managers on my brand as they are all really nice.
Your Impressions
I loved it. I made a lot of friends and I think moving to London really helped, rather than commuting from further out. Work could be full on at times but the opportunities presented to me in my role made it worth it.
Yes
Be prepared to work hard and play hard. Also don't be afraid of reaching out if you want to go for coffee with someone. Also join an ERG if you can!
