The Role
There was a great variety of work and it is very challenging but they let you work independently which is nervewracking but good for developing important skills.
It is a very supportive atmosphere and you never feel awkward to ask anyone in the office a question whether it is relating to work or just general.
My mentor gave me a lot of support and he spoke to me at the end of each day. I was able to go through what I had done, what I had learnt and perhaps improvements for the next day.
A lot of work from different people but not overwhelming.
I was given enough! I was given the opportunity to call three different solicitors and ask whether they could confirm a completion. That was lot of responsibility.
I think I developed, through different tasks, an attention to detail, communication skills and teamwork skills which are all important for any lawyer.
The Company
People are very interactive and easy to get along with.
Good overall, only real thing missing was an opportunity to meet other trainees and be able to aks of their experiences but I just approached them which is possible tooo!
The mentor they chose for me to have was very thorough and definitely allowed me to get the best out of the placement.
I would love to work here but I have not sent off my application yet and thus have not been told about an assessment day but when I do send it off, hopefully I will gain a positive reply.
The Culture
It was not a HUGE social scene but you definitely have the opportunity to do activities which you find fun- I was able to play netball for the firm and that afternoon was very enjoyable. I also got to meet more lawyers and lawyers form other firms.
As I live in London, relatively it is quite cheap.
I did not really go out in the night so cannot say
There were sports activities and if you asked it was very easy to join in.
