  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I would run trials, test samples on a technical and sensorial perspective. Change formulations, run rheology samples. Present data to our suppliers.

  • I have learnt new technical skills like how to operate new machinery and new soft wear that is used for lots of R&D jobs. Personal skills I have developed on my team building skills, interpersonal, presenting skills, time management, and organisation

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given lots of reasonability when planning trial, and creating specs for our final product. I have also been given restorability feeding back correct information to our suppliers, and maintaining a good relationship between us.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I felt I wasn't given much support from my manager as we didn't have that regular catch up meeting and didn't have much guidance on what my role would involve near the start. But the rest of the team was very good at helping me get up to speed with everything.

  • Felt very much like a team, was a very friendly environment and I knew there was also was someone to go to if I needed help with things.

  • I did enjoy it helped me develop a lot of new skills and a great introduction into the work place. But has helped me realise this isn't the exact sort of job I want to go into. But am still grateful for this experience

  • Don't be afraid to ask lot of questions, the environment at unilever can be quite fast paised sometimes and will have to use a lot of problem solving skills
