    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Working through social media content creation, social media monitoring, alongside website design. Then background tasks to make sure these were all carried out successfully such as liaising with a variety of cross-functional teams, gaining approval due to the highly regulated environment and research in order to help the creation of these elements.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have definitely improved a variety of skills during my placement. I now understand paid social media campaigns and what makes these successful. Furthermore, I have developed my web design skills and website skills. I have had a variety of skills development opportunities through my team and have always been able to ask any questions I had in order to further my development.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was able to flex the amount of responsibility I wanted - I was able to ask to take on more responsibility when I asked. Due to the highly regulated environment, most of my work did have to go through formal approval procedures, but this was the same as other colleagues so never felt like I was different. I also had chance to do annual leave cover for my manager which was a great opportunity to undertake a higher level of responsibility.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support during my placement from a variety of sources. My manager was extremely supportive throughout my placement, as was the wider team. I think this made my experience even better, as everyone was always happy to help and offer any advice. There was also lots of opportunities to engage with the wider UK team which meant you felt supported to engage in different opportunities out of the scope of your usual job role.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture is really good. Despite being in a high pressured environment, everyone is so kind and open to discussion. There is never a sense that you cant ask a question of reach out to someone. It is so lovely to work in a space where everyone is happy for a discussion or help you understand more. The flexible working policy is great and you can flex the days you need to be in the office.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I loved my time at Pfizer. I definitely enjoyed it a lot more than I originally anticipated, I didnt come from a science background and had no prior knowledge of pharma before so I went in completely blind. I was welcomed into the team and this really made me enjoy my time, alongside the fast paced environment and variety of opportunities, it really has been a great year - it has flown by. I would always recommend a placement at Pfizer, even to those who dont enjoy science or know much about pharma - it is so much more than that and the people really make it such a special place.

  • 7. Would you recommend Pfizer to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer
  • I would say go for it! It is so much different to what you would actually expect. With it being such a regulated and intense environment, I don't think you expect it to be as happy and warm and family-like as it is. I think as long as you go in with an open mind and use all the opportunities you can then it will be incredible. Just be yourself and play to your strengths, then if there is anything you're unsure of, ask the question.
