Overview
I am a assistant statistician. My role involves me receiving data (usually from surveys) and carrying out analysis of the data using statistical analysis software such as SAS and JMP to find any relationships or anything important about the data
Skills
I have been able to improve my statistical analysis skills and presentation skills through various projects I have worked on. Furthermore, I have gained confidence and teamwork skills through my time spent in the office and around different groups of people
Responsibilities
I have done projects in which I have to analysis independently and present my findings to the clients. However, majority of the projects involved someone in my team e.g. my line manager taking charge and delegating what methods I should use to carry out analysis
Support & Guidance
I got a lot of support during my placement. My line manager was very understanding of the fact that this wasn't my area of expertise and was always available to help out in any way. The rest of my team were also super helpful as I could turn to them at anytime and they would look over me
Culture
The general atmosphere was very relaxing and always positive vibes around the office. There isn't much pressure as there is always people that can help you out
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed my placement at Unilever. I have gained invaluable experience about statistics and the general office life. I have never had to worry about anything because my time always had my back and were willing to step in when needed.
