    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given quite a bit of responsibility within my internship. I had a number of projects that would take the entirety of my time at L'OrĂ©al, and therefore had to time manage myself and ensure these were given effective prioritisation. As the HR function is within a period of change currently, there were lots of opportunities to provide suggestions and improvements on the data and people analytics processes we currently have.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was
  • 4/5

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I had the right amount of support, with weekly one-to-ones with my manager. However, she also gave me enough space to really make the role my own. I was given plenty of learning videos to ensure I had the knowledge to take on projects and was able to set myself on other trainings when there were gaps with my skillset.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?
  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • My team and the wider HR Function had a great atmosphere. I was never worried about making mistakes and it was always encouraged to have a go and voice my opinions. Within certain teams, the company culture can sometimes expect you to work longer hours. This was never considered an expectation of me by my manager and team, however I did often work overtime to ensure I was completing all of my work.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
  • It is quite competitive to get in so make sure you know as much as possible about the company and the role you are looking to go into. It is really starting to focus on the skills that new starters can bring so try to emphasise those that you have and upskill yourself if there is something missing in your CV.
