Overview
We audit clients in the public sector such as NHS bodies and councils to analyse their finances and check for material misstatements in order to give an opinion on their financial reporting. Day to day we do testing Working papers on areas like expenses, leases, PPE etc.
Skills
Developed my excel and professional behaviour skills through on the job tasks as well as external courses provided by BPP (Paid for by Mazars)
Responsibilities
In the first few months on the placement I don't think I was given much responsibility due to the fact that I had not undergone all my training but now that I am in the final stages of the placement year I am expected to complete my work start to finish at a high level with a large amount of independence
Support & Guidance
Managers are always there to supply feedback and answer any questions. They made it very clear that no question is a stupid question
Culture
Very friendly environment with the team having plenty of social events throughout the year to improve team morale
Your Impressions
It was very useful to get an entry level understanding of what is expected of a junior joining a large firm in this role. I think I enjoyed the fact I could earn a salary and live an independent life in Manchester.
Yes
It is a very inclusive environment that enables great development for future endeavours
