Overview
on a day to day basis I work within the operations team to help manage sections and collect vital KPI data in order to implement improvement actions as well as working alongside multiple other departments in the business to manage and plan the engine transport stands utilized on site.
Skills
Over the course of my Placement at GE, I have learnt vital skills like multi-layer communication, time management, effective planning, and leadership. The role and team I have been apart of have allowed me to develop and enhance all of the pre-existing skills I had. While the team have allowed me to manage my own section of the assembly line as well as having full control over the transport stands used.
Responsibilities
Over the duration of my placement as mentioned before, additional opportunities like being the site representative for placement students are always available. In my full time role I have been given the sole site responsibility for transport stands as well as given the responsibility of collecting key data, being the sole owner of projects over the span of the year.
Support & Guidance
In my department or area within the business, the support has been easily available and the help has been easy to talk to. With each placement student having a mentor and their point of contact but also the support from the site early careers team, internship committee, and the overall UK early careers lead.
Culture
The work environment is great and everyone is friendly while the operators are easy to talk to and go to when you need help with maybe things like Projects or problem solving. While senior leadership are both friendly and approachable.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at GE Aerospace. The atmosphere is great and the people are as well. The site as an overall is both inclusive and motivational to achieve targets and KPI's. While the site offer loads of extracurricular things to do like the 3 peak's as well as STEM and volunteering opportunities. The site and placement scheme gives you the opportunity to make a difference for the better with your role.
Yes
I would say to be inquisitive about the role your applying for, always ask questions and go above and beyond if you do get the opportunity to be apart of the GE Aerospace team.
