    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The day to day involves helping audit teams conduct planning, testing and produce an audit opinion. To achieve this I was involved in client meetings, internal catchups, filling in planning and conclusion forms and testing assigned areas/accounts (e.g trade payables etc) of the business. A big part of the day is spent in liaising with the client to obtain evidence, and documentation of the actual audit work performed.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I developed my technical knowledge and competency. I got to apply the accounting/audit concepts and principles learned in the class in actual practice improving my grasp on them. More importantly, developed my communication and analytical thinking skills, had to efficiently and professionally communicate with clients and internal teams to produce high work quality work while adhering strict deadlines. I had to apply my own analytical skills to solve problems.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, through out my placement I worked on actual clients and projects. I was given my own areas and accounts to work on which were my responsibility. WIth time the areas I was assigned got more complex. Gained excellent support and help from everyone around me helping me tackle complex areas and produce the work with the quality desired within the timelines.
