    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role is split between Product Planning and Product Development. Product Planning involves being a Product Executive for France, Switzerland, Spain, Andorra & North Macedonia. This involves answering daily queries from external stakeholders, overseeing the new unit process, creating CSQ reports, sending incident managers, updating stakeholders on new resorts, helping to create strategy plans. Product Development involves working on projects at Crystal and Lakes & Mountains, currently including: Green & Fair, Childcare, Summit, Huski, Multicentres.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed time management and prioritisation skills. This is especially important when outlining the week's tasks: what is most critical and needs to be completed first? I have learnt new skills around setting boundaries, learning to say no when I cannot take on additional workload, but also setting aside dedicated time to prioritise my University work. I have also developed my confidence, working to lead monthly CSQ meetings with numerous stakeholders and contributing to both the charity project and business project.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, but only after I had new management in the New Year, when the destination split was introduced for our team, where we had responsibility for certain areas. Prior to this, responsibility was limited.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Similar to the previous answer, I received more support and guidance after new management was implemented in the New Year at Crystal Ski. However, within the wider learning and development team at TUI, I received a lot of support & guidance.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • General company culture had a focus on support, fun, growth & development. This made the general atmosphere really supportive and enjoyable. Company culture at Crystal was slightly different - still fun, sociable and with a focus on personal and professional growth, but, with some colleagues frequently working late into the evening and sometimes on weekends, this made the environment slightly more stressful and created an impression of a weaker work life balance.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my placement: the opportunities have been amazing, whether this refers to travel opportunities to see and develop our product, to develop personal and professional skills, and to learn new skills and work with various new teams. However, it has also been very stressful at times: I have struggled with work/life balance, working late in season to complete work, and managing workload.
