Overview
Day-to-day, my role is primarily to look after POS projects from start to finish. This includes meeting with internal account managers to see what POS is required by the retailers, gathering quantities and creating briefs for the graphic designers. I then work alongside the graphic design companies (externally) to ensure we are meeting deadlines and the POS is aligned with the requirements in the brief. I am also responsible for writing up meeting minutes and sharing with the team post meeting.
Skills
Within L'Oréal, there are many opportunities to expand your skillset with the provided trainings. There are trainings that are mandatory for your role, but there are also trainings available to sign up to. For example, I started my role with little knowledge of how to use excel. I signed up to the excel trainings that were provided, and with practice, my excels skills have developed significantly. My presentation skills have also developed during my time in this role. This was something I had only done in school/college previously. I had lots of opportunities to present in L'Oréal which really helped with my confidence.
Responsibilities
Yes, this role is a very hands-on role and I was given a lot of responsibilities. During my time I was responsible for POS projects from start to finish, but always with the help of my team and line manager. Whilst I had a lot of responsibilities with reaching deadlines and receiving approval from the right people, It was so beneficial because I really got the most out of my time at L'Oréal.
Support & Guidance
My team were incredibly supportive throughout my internship. Especially starting, it can be quite overwhelming getting settled into your role. My team were so understanding of that and provided me with any help and training I needed. Even now that I am settled, my team are there for me whenever I have any questions or if I need a quick meeting to run through a project, they will always be open to putting a slot in the calendar to have a check in/ catchup.
Culture
The atmosphere at L'Oréal is extremely positive as soon as you come in. Everyone is super chatty and friendly and you are made feel so welcome. My co-workers have been a huge reason as to why I have benefitted from my internship so much. They have always been happy to help if I was ever overwhelmed or if I had any questions with work. Everything is a team effort!
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship immensely and would urge anyone thinking of applying to apply! I am so glad that my role was very hands-on and I really feel that I got the most out of my year working here. The role itself, I feel was really suited to me as I love anything creative and coming up with new ideas for campaigns. As an intern, you are made feel extremely valued and your work never goes unnoticed. The help and support I received throughout the year with problems big or small, is like no other!
Yes
This role is very hands-on so be prepared for the responsibilities you will be given. It is truly such a good opportunity to gain experience in fields that you don't have much experience in, and it is a great start to your career! This role is part of a big team and meeting/contacting people is a huge part of it. I would urge you to apply if you are creative, a team player and proactive.
