Skills
My focus for my placement experience has been 5 target competencies, namely, improve my business acumen, professional courage and influence, change and people analytics, networking, employee relations. Alongside my key target competencies for my placement year, I have further developed my organisational, communication, prioritisation and time management skills. On top of this, I have also developed my project management skills, working on a number of projects and developing new policies.
Responsibilities
Throughout my role, I have benefitted from developing my skills in a real world environment, working with experts in the HR field. I have also had an opportunity to gain hands on experience in a number of areas in HR, such as case management and recruitment, actively participating in these projects and areas.
Support & Guidance
Training and ongoing support has been a major factor with my experience. Colleagues within my department have been consistently available and proactive to support when I have a question or query, or a gap in my knowledge. With regular team catch-ups and a positive team culture, I have felt supported to ask questions and ask for support. I have also benefitted from 1-1 support and guidance from my manager to further my career development.

The atmosphere within the team was extremely positive, setting aside time for team building opportunities to further encourage collaboration and communication. Meanwhile there is a strong emphasis on developing each other within the team, providing feedback when necessary and developing each others knowledge and understanding of different tasks and responsibilities.
