  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

    • We attended a number of talks which focused on the company’s practice areas, as well as its culture. We also got the opportunity to work on the desk supervised by our trainers, engaging in a variety of legal work. There were also numerous socials, and the chance to network with A&O Shearman employees.

    • I thoroughly enjoyed my time on A&O Shearman’s vacation scheme. It provided an excellent insight into the work that A&O Shearman are involved in and good legal work experience, but was also a really fun and valuable experience.

    • Focus on the international, multi-jurisdictional nature of the firm, and consider how you can relate that to your own strengths and experiences. A&O Shearman provide good information about the competencies that they seek when recruiting, so try to demonstrate these actively at interview.
