    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Day to day I would typically run reports and process data, involving internal systems as well as the use of excel formulas and occasionally macros. I would also be involved in work on analysing data, and extrapolating trends, as well as providing insight into regular meetings on the car market or the pricing of our vehicles.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes. I have greatly developed my excel skills and SQL skills. These were very basic once I first joined however now are to a degree that I can independently analyse and turn around work I am sent without assistance, with much improved confidence in the work I output. This has meant I am much more willing to give my insights into say market or scheme trends.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes. I was given responsibility alongside a great deal of support in processes arguably core to the business. This involved generating outputs for significant forecasts, analysing and presenting data findings to senior leadership teams as well as running regular processes used for reporting on the business.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a huge degree of support. When I first joined I was constantly asking my manager questions and never received a negative response. The way I was supported was not through being told answers but instead guided to the answer, which I believe was very important to my development as it made me learn through actively doing. I also received free development sessions (some lasting all day) and development days.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Really positive. I hardly had any negative experiences with colleagues, and others were always very supportive when I required assistance. People really genuinely cared about the work as well as my personal development, and there was a very positive social experience within teams.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed it. I did not expect to grow as much as I have, or become as close with my colleagues as I have. It has been a really positive experience for me, and I feel very lucky to have had my placement here.

  • 7. Would you recommend Motability Operations to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Motability Operations
  • I would say show you're analytical skills and willingness to give insight, but also an understanding of the limitations or bounds of this insight, or any potential flaws/risks to it. If successful, I'd say ask as many questions as you can, as people are always willing to answer, and it makes the learning process so much easier.
