Overview
Associates and trainees assigned us daily tasks in order to provide us with an insight into the work that they do and the responsibilities placed upon solicitors. We also got invited to client calls, and got to network with people in each department.
Skills
Some of the skills that I developed include, but are not limited to: - Attention to detail - Communication skills - Critical thinking - Comprehensive listening - Research skills - Drafting legal documents
Business Insight
It was extremely useful, as we had an opportunity to attend a 3-day insight scheme in the beginning of the internship. During that time we had guest speakers come and tell us about the work they do and the future aspirations for the firm. Overall, I had a solid understanding about the work they do and the opportunities available.
Culture
This was one of the highlights of the internship - everyone was extremely friendly and approachable. They provided the necessary support when needed, and had patience to teach us about the work they do.
Your Impressions
To a great extent - it seemed like people were excited to have us interns around and to show us everything that the firm had to offer.
