Overview
My role involved supporting my team in the field while they worked with Salons in the UK and Ireland. I helped plan events, business planning meetings, liaised with key stakeholders and supported with the execution of product launches. Day-to-day I would complete various admin tasks, work with brands to send out product information such as assets, analyse sell out data and communicate with external businesses.
Skills
I have learnt how to communicate efficiently in a real life business setting. This has increased my confidence and learning agility. I feel I have matured due to working with experienced colleagues; gaining valuable feedback from each of them. L'Oréal is such a fantastic place to grow and evolve into the working world whilst being supported by the brilliant early careers team.
Responsibilities
I was given the right amount of responsibility as I grew into my role. This was a great way to not feel overwhelmed and feel as if I was evolving as time went on.
Support & Guidance
The early careers team were great at leading sessions during the internship; we had regular contact with our line managers and Loreal make it compulsory to have regular reviews with your manager, even the wider teams (not early careers). HR put on trainings and there are a number of voluntary sessions too. We also had learning Fridays where every month they would block out the time and we would listen to guests.
Culture
Loreal have a great company culture and everyone is very welcoming and friendly. The only thing that stands in the way is virtual communication- so it is important to see people in person to build more meaningful connections.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my time here at L'Oréal. It was a perfect year and due to the high amount of interns, it feels like a nice step from University to working life. Loreal are well equipped for dealing with the early careers cohort- the pastoral care is second to none and a great, safe and caring place to experience a year of work. You are surrounded by people who want to see you grow and flourish.
Yes
I would tell anyone to apply to loreal, it caters to such a wide skill set you can be placed in so many different areas in the company. Make sure you research the company before an assessment center and try and thing of unique things you can ask your interviewer. Networking is such a huge thing at L'Oréal so if you are lucky to get a placement there definitely make the most of that!
