Overview
The experience involved a three day induction to the firm in the London office, followed by three weeks in your selected 'home office'. In the 'home office' there were two placements, the first consisting of two weeks and the second in the last week. The placements involved completing tasks, a mixture of 'live work' (on ongoing matters) and tasks involving previous matters/ scenarios to help demonstrate and exercise your skills, such as drafting and research.
Skills
I have learnt how to draft contracts and have been able to develop that skill throughout.
Business Insight
It was insightful, I feel as though I was able to fully explore all corners of the business and what is possible to get involved in.
Culture
The general company culture was friendly and supportive. Some teams are more close knit than others, so can sometimes be difficult to feel included in the team.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight, I feel as though I was given the opportunity to explore what a career at this firm would be like whilst also given the support to try certain tasks which I hadn't done before.
Yes
I would make sure that you are enthusiastic and understand all of which the firm does. So not only in terms of the work but also the sectors, networks and pro-bono involvement. The firm appreciates fresh, forward-thinking perspectives.
