The Role
I had a fantastic two weeks here, met some lovely and interesting people and did a lot of enjoyable work - best placement I have ever done!
My colleagues made me feel extremely welcome from day one, particularly my trainee buddy who was always there if I had problems and really looked after me!
I had all the support I could have needed and always had someone to ask questions to if I was unsure of anything.
I was given a steady flow of work, never bored but never completely overwhelmed. I managed to fit in all my work around practice presentations/socialising etc
There were a lot of very complex and important deals going on in the department so I wasn't given huge tasks on them (obviously!) but the work I did I felt really contributed to the team effort and that was enough for me at this level.
I have learnt so much about the strategies of law firms, the corporate world and how legal professionals operate at different levels. This will give me a real advantage in any subsequent assessments I may have to undertake as I have a clear understanding of how law firms are run and how they make profit
The Company
The team has a really good balance between being friendly/chatty/having a joke but also getting the work done which I felt I fit into really well.
So much effort is put into the placement, everything is scheduled in very clearly and you always know where you're going/what you're supposed to be doing - a lot effort which I very much appreciated!
I was given a lot of time by solicitors at all levels for them to explain the work they were doing/give me jobs etc. I genuinely felt that the firm wanted me to leave with a great impression of them, as opposed to just assessing me constantly!

Company Parties/Events
The placement has made me more determined than ever that this is the firm I want to work for. Fingers crossed!!
The Culture
All trainees and placement students were always keen to go out for drinks of an evening/have drinks in the office. We had a pool tournament one evening and a treasure hunt round Leeds on another which was a lot of fun. I have made some brilliant friends in the other placement students and I know we'll stay in touch and hopefully be colleagues one day!
I already live in Leeds so continued on in my student house. Going out is not too expensive and was usually funded very kindly by the firm for organised events.
A lot of the evenings we went out were organised so we went to good places which suited everyone's tastes.
There were sporting events to get involved in if you wanted and, as mentioned above, a lot of organised events like office drinks/treasure hunt etc
