Overview
As the cosmetics trade marketing intern, my role involved assisting in the marketing activities of 3 brands Maybelline, L'Oreal Paris and Essie. My main responsibilities on a daily basis included the management of POS materials, management of purchase orders to pay our suppliers, nco orders to order cosmetic stock internally and externally, creating powerpoint presentations to communicate upcoming POS and NPD to the Irish team, monitoring budgets and assisting my manager and the national account managers with requests.
Skills
I have learnt many new skills since beginning my internship such as communication skills, time management skills, problem solving skills, creativity skills, IT skills such as Excel and Powerpoint and teamworking skills.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship, I especially took on a lot of responsibility while my manager was on annual leave. The Trade marketing cosmetics CPD team in Ireland was only myself and my manager, therefore when she was on annual leave I took on a lot of responsibility and often had to use my initiative to make decisions in her absence. I also was solely responsible for the management of Purchase orders and NCO orders as well as tracking these orders in the budget for finance.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance during my internship especially from my manager. Everyone on the team was very approachable and I always felt I could go to my manager if I had any questions or if I needed guidance with a new task.
Culture
The company culture and atmosphere was very positive in the company and within my division. The culture in the office was fun while professional and hardworking. We attended many social events and activities throughout the year which was excellent for team bonding.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. Although it could be challenging at times it really helped my grow both personally and professionally and I was passionate about the work I was doing.
Yes
I would say to be passionate about the work that you do, be very organised and hardworking.
