Overview
Changes depending on the day, attending meetings, completing small tasks part of bigger projects, setting up own meetings with other teams, localising imagery, etc.
Skills
Yes definitely. Learned new skills of managing work relationships, how to handle work frustrations and software skills. Developed my own time management and soft skills.
Responsibilities
Lots of responsibility. As you work and demonstrate your abilities, your managers and wider team will recognise this and trust you with more work and responsibility. It was great to feel trusted by your team as it really showed they valued your work and efforts.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support and guidance. I was luckily surrounded by other employees who had similar career progressions as myself at the start of their career, I saw many of them as my own mentor.
Culture
Everyone is very friendly and happy to set up coffee chats with you despite being in different teams.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement year and I would recommend anyone to take a year out to do this. It is extremely different from university and gives you great experience. I feel so much more at ease knowing I did a year in industry as I know what to kind of expect after my studies.
Yes
Don't get too caught up on your own direct line of work - try to see what other teams are up to! Both inside and outside your division.
