Overview
My role consisted of assisting the Advocacy team to drive the overall business objectives of our brands. This includes eventing and campaign stock ordering, in-house seeding to press and influencers, supporting with our community platforms, contributing to love and paid social brainstorms, supporting with end-to-end mailers & representing our brands at events.
Skills
Yes - I have learnt the importance of networking and growing your contact database, adapting to fast-paced environments (especially in advocacy where we move at the speed of culture), prioritisation of tasks to ensure we are meeting campaign or eventing stock deadlines & my confidence working in a corporate environment has blossomed.
Responsibilities
I had much more responsibility than I had expected previously, which has been vital to my growth and confidence supporting a wider team. I had a lot of responsibility to fix barriers and managing processes smoothly - the team relied on me to ensure we had stock for events on time. My time management skills have increased.
Support & Guidance
I was very supported, not only professionally but personally, by my teams. I truly felt they wanted me to succeed. The internship is very fast-paced, having to adapt and prioritise which tasks are most important daily. However, the team encouraged the asking of questions and curiosity, to ensure I was learning alongside completing these tasks.
Culture
I built great connections with my team, and truly feel like upon leaving we will stay in touch. I feel like they are very invested in my personal career goals and journey, even upon leaving the placement. The team definitely encouraged connection - sitting together and working together in-person. The culture is very relaxed and laid-back, and there is a lot of trust.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement a lot! I built a wide network of contacts, plus friends for life amongst other interns! I felt it was a fantastic platform to grow and persue a career in Advocacy going forward. I have blossomed into a confident, outgoing person, eager to continue growing and learning. I felt lucky to work with our brands.
Yes
It is a great opportunity and especially if you are applying for a placement, it is an amazing experience learning the world of work. You learn a lot about adaptability, networking, interpersonal skills and business skills.
