    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • 1. Provide and plan building blocks for LUXE Independents squad. 2. Manage and Monitor Spending (run promotional activity authorisation, audit backups) 3. Link marketing and sales teams (retail communications, product availability report generation)

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • The three key skills I have developed have been stakeholder management, communication and commercial awareness. Being the key link between a brand and retailer requires a high level of managing expectations and communication. Gaining information from brands and staying in the loop built my communication skills. Learning the decision making behind promotional activities and sales strategies increased my commercial awareness about the key efforts in driving the P&L.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, for a 2 month stint, I was essentially the only commercial team member supporting the sales team with building blocks. This led to owning workstreams and a heightened level of reliance on my judgement.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was
  • 5/5

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was fortunate to have a manager that taught me about the industry, and acted as a mentor in many ways. I always had support, but when I was the only dedicated team member, I did not have much guidance per se.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Helpful, fast and competitive. The brands and commercial teams almost felt disjointed, so this caused a certain level of communicative breakdowns. However, there is no doubt people would be willing to help when asked.
