    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Focused on Temp workers eg payroll, absence reporting, workwear, occupational health. Also engagement events for employees such as Forvia Day, birthday celebrations and also D&I events. Day to day activities included KPI reporting, daily meetings and daily absence tracking. Also managing hiring processes and necessary disciplinaries.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Massively developed my team working and interpersonal skills. Forced to develop independence and being a self-starter as a strong “sink or swim” attitude towards the automotive industry.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Large responsibility, student roles are treated as full time jobs not just getting coffees. Had to stand in for my manager at customer meetings, and help implement new processes at both sites in the south east.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Very little support from my manager, and those that were handing over to me. UK managers offered lots of support when asked. Strong culture of just getting on with it and not complaining.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Lots of strong relationships formed, however heavily male dominated industry can sometimes breed a difficult atmosphere. You will find friends and enemies for life.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I both loved and hated it. Incredible functional development within my role, and feel I am truly set up to start a full time graduate or permanent role. However, the difficult culture and some management attitude makes it difficult to survive if you don’t have a strong character. Definitely need to be able to support and back yourself to survive in the company.

  • 7. Would you recommend Forvia to a friend?
  • No

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Forvia
  • It’s beneficial if you have a strong interest in the automotive industry. And put yourself out there for opportunities and to fight for what you want or need. You’ll get out as much as you put in, and you won’t get things if you don’t ask or try.
