Overview
Daily update of KPIs, tracking of accidents and near misses on site. Leading training for operators and office staff and audits on the shop floor to ensure standards are met. Communicating with all areas on both long term plans and one-off processes.
Skills
I have developed skills with Excel, using it in a professional setting to optimise processes. I have improved my presentation skills alongside critical thinking to resolve problems. Finally I have gained skills by working with SAP, Ariba and mLean.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility as I was working in a small team. Help was available if required, but problem solving was encouraged. The responsibility did build throughout the year, starting with basic day-to-day tasks and increasing as I became more confident with the skills I had been developing. It felt like the right amount of responsibility for me, and I felt I could ask for more or less if required.
Support & Guidance
As HSE I worked closely with all departments and found varying levels of engagement/support. Within the team, I had great support from the graduate student, however the management was changing around in the plant so there was different levels of support through the year.
Culture
Generally supporting and lots of people actively were helping the students.
