Responsibilities
Yes, I was given responsibilities for big projects on my placement such as: developing and enrolling the Attribute Gauge R&R app across the manufacturing plant, organising and implementing containment actions for the top offending scrap in the plant and managing the Boundary Samples stored in the plant.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support from Quality Engineering Team and Manager to provide me with tasks and support if required.
Culture
In the office, everyone was always very approachable, friendly and talkative.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed most parts of the placement and learned quite a bit. I found that the role wasn't as technical as I hoped. As it's a manufacturing plant, I found the location difficult moving from a big city to a smaller nearby town. But overall, I found it a good experience and feel that I've grown a lot from the placement year.
Yes
Ensure that you are comfortable with the location of the plant. You get out what you put in, so if you put in a lot of effort to deliver tasks on time and try your best you will get a lot out of the placement like I believe I did.
