The Role
It was a great placement scheme that was well thought out and structured so that you always had some idea of what you were supposed to be doing.
My collegaues in the office quickly introduced themselves and from the beginning right through to the end of the scheme were always interested as to how I was finding things. When I did a piece of work for someone they were always very appreciative and I felt like I was a valued member of the team.
My trainee buddy was an excellent guide throughout the process, he was always able to anwser my questions and made an effort to keep my workload well balanced.
Throughout the placement I was relatively busy, I would say that I was busier in the first week than the second, but that may have just been that my speed at completing the tasks increased as I became more familiar with them.
obviously the scheme had to be suitable for people with as yet no legal training, with that in mind I thought the firm gave us a great deal of responsibility .
The skills I developed and discovered over the course of this scheme will definitely help me in my studies when I am back at university and hoepfully beyond into the working world.
The Company
The atmosphere was relaxed yet professional, the relative open plan of the office was a real help in this regard.
The scheme was on the whole very well organised, there was a bit of an overrun on some of the assesments meaning they weren't at their scheduled times but besides that everything was very well run.
One got the impression that the firm were keen for this to be a learning experience for those on the scheme.
Sports and Social Club
Obviously it is a very competitive firm but by getting onto the vacation placement and performing well one gives themselves the best chance of securing a job.
The Culture
All the other placement students and the trainees were very friendly and we had great fun whilst on the placement and outside of office hours.
Very reasonable, I managed to stay in a hotel for a very reasonable rate and food wasn't expensive either.
Good
There were several planned social events and the trainees were also keen to invite you along to other stuff if they were going out themselves.
