Overview
My role consisted of assisting more senior engineers with using calculation software PSCAD for modelling components, electrical systems, performing a variety of studies to ensure compliance with grid codes and report writing that would be sent to clients.
Skills
I learned how to apply my skills and background knowledge from uni through to practical applications within work. I had to increase background engineering knowledge to comprehend the extended breadth of theory required to do the role. I developed skills ith new softwares, PSCAD and Excel.
Responsibilities
In the beginning not so much but as I progressed and became more confident with the work more responsibility was given ith report writing and individual work
Support & Guidance
Not as much as would have been ideal but obviously other have there on work to attend to on top of helping me. There isn't a clear path for learning the software I was using so experiences difficulties at times.
Culture
Company culture was very good personally. I was made responsible for ensuring my work was complete and not being micromanaged all the time and treated well by everyone and with respect.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the placement and look forward to starting full-time with the company.
Yes
