IT Specialist Review

Deloitte gives its employees a lot of flexibility when it comes to how and where they work. You can choose to work in the office or at home though it is suggested that you come in at least three days a week. I was put on a few different engagements during my time, assisting in the IT audit of several companies, most of which I recognised. You will have consistent support from a people leader and other members of the team you will be joining.

I think I've learnt and developed a wide range of skills during my short time with Deloitte. A big part of the placement is comfortable in a corporate setting and learning to rely on others in order to complete the tasks that you need to. I also learned many technical skills that were necessary for my role, there is a good amount of support to help you get to grips with the apps and services Deloitte uses to complete work.

During the induction Deloitte did a good job explaining the wide range of options a new hire has when choosing their role in the company. They make it very clear that there are many different locations and sectors that you can join regardless of your experience prior to joining the company. Deloitte also does a good job of helping new hires understand how a career at Deloitte can progress and the different roles you will take up.

The atmosphere was very very friendly, everyone I interacted with was very happy to help no matter what the issue was and I had the opportunity to attend a few different social events either with the team that I was a part of or the wider firm, this helped me meet a lot of different people from around the country.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the placement, it exposed me to a different type of work that I had never been involved with before and everyone I met during my time was very friendly and helpful. I was given time to learn and become comfortable with the work I was set meaning I never felt overwhelmed with what people were expecting me to do.

Try to attend as many meetings and events as possible as they will provide you a deep understanding of what exactly goes on at Deloitte and you will begin to get a deep insight into how other companies work internally and what methods and systems they use. I would also recommend asking for advice as much as you can, there will be a lot of people willing to help you and give advice if you are struggling with anything.
