Overview
Working closely with a team of around 10 performing simple tasks that were explained in detail before completing. Meeting a lot of other interns and also more senior colleagues at Deloitte. I was working on a client project for the duration of my internship.
Skills
Soft skills and also technical skills. A lot of networking and I've improved my communication with different groups of people, such as with other interns, and senior managers. Technically, I've learnt how to use a new software that Deloitte use, and have also improved my Excel skills significantly.
Business Insight
We weren't able to choose the exact business line we were working in which I found strange considering if we receive a graduate job it is in this business line so we have had no say in it at all. If we want to move service line, this is not guaranteed so we risk losing the stability of a job after uni when we've had no choice in it to begin with?
Culture
The general atmosphere around the office was very good, everyone was very friendly, but I felt like we were spoon fed for the duration of the internship and we weren't really left to figure anything out by ourselves. I don't know if this is a culture of seniority, or just because they want to be helpful.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight when I had client work to do, however often I found that I finished tasks a lot more quickly than my managers expected me to and they wouldn't give me any more work to do so I got quite bored.
Yes
Be your authentic self, it is a very friendly company and it is much easier to get on with people whether it's your peers or managers if you are just yourself.
