    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I am working in the Audit, Privately Owned Business team here in the Manchester office. My role involves collaborating closely with Auditors to work on a large client with 16 different entities. On a day to day basis, I have a range of tasks set by my manager and peers, this includes, analysing the financial statements, looking into large figures and testing these to ensure they are correct, as well as communicating with the client.

  • The skills I have developed: - Analytical skills - Problem solving skills when there are discrepancies. - Communicating with clients on a daily basis. - Teamworking skills. The skills I have learnt: - Taking initiative - Audit skills, this includes how to meticulously review working papers.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes. From the beginning of my internship, I was proactive in my approach and constantly asked for new tasks so I can make the most of the experience and learn as much as I could. My line manager has been very supportive in making sure I move around the Audit team to gain as much knowledge and experience.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • There is a lot of support available for interns at Forvis Mazars. This includes support from your personal people manager and buddy who are available all throughout the internship if you have any questions or problems. Additionally, the early careers team are available to support me with queries I may have. There are also teams chats for all the interns to discuss things with each other, as well as network groups you can join.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Forvis mazars fosters a very inclusive and diverse, positive culture. I found that everyone was really welcoming and willing to support you for the duration of your internship. As interns, we are made to feel equal to everyone else and are included in all the social events and are able to join the Forvis Mazars network groups.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my internship at Forvis Mazars for various reasons. One of those reasons is that I felt very supported from the beginning of the recruitment process through to the last week of my internship. My team has been great at coaching me and advising me on the professional qualification that Forvis Mazars does. Their advice has been great.

  • - Ensure that you have prepared for the interview. For instance, by looking at their website as there are many interesting articles on here. - Look at the many networks that are available and see what you would be interested in. - Be yourself! The culture is very positive and inclusive here at Forvis Mazars. - Be inquisitive.
