    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • In my marketing role, I focused on the creative aspects including managing our corporate and placement social media accounts, assisting employees in improving their social media initiatives with the help of Hootsuite's Amplify, creating illustrative content for our website and Access CRM pages on The Access Group's website, organising social events for the Oxford office, collaborating on multiple projects with our partners, creating landing pages, and performing regular data cleansing tasks.

  • As a marketing student, I aimed to gain knowledge and new skills to better apply what I learned in my studies to real-world projects and tasks. I have had the opportunity to learn how to use different platforms, including Landingi, ScoreApp, Camtasia, Hootsuite, and Amplify. Additionally, I enhanced my skills by completing LinkedIn Learning courses. I have developed valuable soft skills such as confidence, public speaking, organisation, and time management.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • My manager consistently trusted me with tasks that allowed me to develop new skills and encourage me out of my comfort zone, such as speaking in company meetings and using software I hadn’t used before. Throughout my placement, I was given responsibilities that were as valuable to the business as those handled by permanent employees. This experience has thoroughly prepared me for my final year at university and my future career.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • From the first day of my placement, I received support and guidance. The initial month was dedicated to training and getting up to speed. Throughout the year, I was assigned tasks that were initially daunting, but I always felt comfortable seeking help or support when needed. My manager was always available to help and we had monthly one-on-one meetings along with quarterly ESP meetings to discuss guidance and objectives, helping me develop in my role.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Most of the permanent staff at ProspectSoft are former placement students, contributing to a positive and friendly atmosphere and work environment. The company benefits from its smaller, family-like feel while also enjoying the advantages of being part of the larger Access Group team. As the Social Champion, I organised and ran social events throughout the year, which was a great way to come together as a team outside the office.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my placement at ProspectSoft and loved being part of the marketing team. I've had the opportunity to meet so many great people who have taught me a lot and helped me progress significantly throughout the year. I have developed numerous skills and seen how I can apply my university learning to a practical setting, which will be beneficial in my final year at Swansea University. I highly recommend that any marketing students at university consider a placement with ProspectSoft!

  • Make sure you familiarise yourself with our company and what we do! There is plenty of information available on our website and social media to help you understand our CRM and CMS solutions. This will help you feel more comfortable and confident in answering questions about the company if you advance to the interview stage.
