Overview
My role is in the Onboarding team. This means I have calls with customers to both help set up their CRM’s and train them how to use the system. In a day I would usually have roughly 3 calls a day. The role involves lots of customer contact, so it is key to build good relationships and understand business processes. I would also have internal meetings dotted throughout the day, these may go through any company updates.
Skills
I think whilst being at ProspectSoft I have developed lots of skills. One of which is my communication skills. I was excited to go into a customer facing role as I would describe myself as a people’s person. However, I feel like I have really built on my communication making sure customers understand the points I am getting across. On top of this my problem-solving skills have also developed as they are key in ensuring customer satisfaction!
Responsibilities
During my placement I feel like I have been giving lots of responsibility. Initially when the placement started, we had a month to get to grips with the system and train up! As time passed my role developed. I have always been trusted to contact customers, however now I have independent sessions with customers in the training calls we provide.
Support & Guidance
I have always had a lot of both support and guidance during my placement. Everyday I will have a check in in the morning with the rest of the Onboarding team to go through what we have to do in a day and can ask any questions we may have. I also have a weekly one-to-one call with my manager, who will check in with me to see if I need any help on anything, she also is more than happy to go over anything throughout the day too!
Culture
There is a strong company culture. At the company when I joined 60% of the workforce had partaken in the placement, which is something that drew me to the role. As a result of this everyone is very friendly and always willing to lend a hand with anything. We also have had work meals, which are always a fun event!
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my placement. Definitely was a big shock going from university life to working life, but I am very happy I have done it. I have had the chance to see how businesses work in the real world, which is something I have found fascinating. I have also had the chance to meet lots of new people who I would hope to stay in contact with for as long as I can.
Yes
I would say never be afraid to ask questions. Everyone at the company is so welcoming and willing to lend a hand so never be afraid (lots of them have been in the same position!).
