Overview
I am involved in employee processes like new starter onboarding, job changes processes, leaver processes, payroll, processing payroll changes, policy work, recruitment, inbox management
Skills
I am much more confident and competent with excel. Greater corporate awareness Development of presentation skills - aware of tailoring presentation and presenting style to my audience
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility in my job role, as I managed the main HR inbox for the company and was the main point of contact for around 500 employees. My manager and team were always on hand to support me but they gave me the space to develop and process independently as well.
Support & Guidance
I received a two and a half week handover with the undergraduates I took over from - this provided a great opportunity to get an in-depth understanding of the job role. There was also a guidance document I could use throughout the placement if I ever needed to check processes or information. My team and manager were incredibly supportive throughout my placement and regularly checked in on how I was finding the placement, whether I was managing my workload okay, and actively encouraged me to get involved in projects and other activities that interested me.
Culture
There is a respectful corporate culture at Honda due to it being a Japanese company. This creates an enjoyable working environment.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Honda Motor Europe. I had a real role within the company and engaged with employees across the business at all levels to assist them on a day-to-day business. I have learnt so much in my role that I will take with me in my future career and in my personal life.
