Overview
Day to day I work closely to my line manager reporting on countries results on our customer satisfaction surveys and working on initiatives to increase the number of surveys that are completed and improve our customers experiences. I am in constant communication with our suppliers and our Market contacts, assisting them with anything they need to run the programme in their Market.
Skills
Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, formal communication, presentation skills, event planning, time management, networking
Responsibilities
My line manager split her responsibilities between her and I, therefore I had a lot of responsibility. I was constantly learning new things and set tasks to do on my own without manager interference. However, my manager was always there in case I had any questions or issues. My role took on all of our reporting which was a large amount of responsibility. My manager and I got involved in activities that were new for us both and meant we were both learning and developing.
Support & Guidance
I was given large amounts of support and guidance, however, only when I required it which meant I could have my own space to complete work in the way that works for me. If I ever had any issues my manager was available and would help to the best of her ability. My team always helped when I wasn't aware of terminology to ensure I was never confused.
Culture
The people at Honda are welcoming and friendly, you are encouraged to learn about the different aspects in the business that may not be in your direct role and take all opportunities offered. The business is very open to employees about performance, and this is refreshing. Many associates stay on for a long time at Honda and you can see why because of the environment and culture.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement and I think this was mainly due to having such a great line manager. she taught me a lot about the business and role but also about what things outside of this I prioritise when looking for a future career. My line manager supported and enhanced my development across the year and I am extremely grateful.
Yes
My advice would be to ask questions, Honda uses lots of acronyms, ask lots of questions to ensure you are understanding. Take all opportunities that are available.
