  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Monitoring press coverage and reporting on this to the team, helping with the day-to-day running of the Honda Rugby Club, attending PR strategy meetings and event planning meetings, assisting with media enquiries and internal communications.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication skills and copywriting skills exponentially during my placement. My digital software skills have improved alongside my confidence in digital literacy. I have learnt specific terms involved with the PR and Events industry that I am now confident with, and have learnt bookkeeping skills such as invoicing, raising POs, and Goods Receipting.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes- a great deal! I upload press releases which have to be in line with strict national and international embargos. I have also written a blog post for the Honda website and liased with members of national media. i have also had the responsibility of bookkeeping and being in charge of contracts, which has taken a lot of patience and training.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I think i received a great deal of support from my team, who have supported and trained me greatly. i do wish there was more training available for financial software and other company-specific software, as they can be quite complicated to use.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The atmosphere on my team was nothing but supportive, warm, and welcoming. Everyone is treated with respect and given responsibility- I felt instantly welcome. In terms of the wider company, i have found people from all departments to be just as friendly- everyone is willing to help and answer questions and are very approachable around the office- all-in-all, a great atmosphere.

  • Definitely take all the company software training opportunities, and get involved in as many cool opportunities as you can!
