Overview
My responsibilities include managing various Digital Aftersales projects through regular coordination with the European Branches as well as the suppliers for these systems. A large part of my job role was managing the development and implementation of changes and new features for our existing systems. This included feature testing, feedback gathering, business case development and coordination with other parties. I also supported with some other activities, including launching systems in European dealers via business trips, testing various companion app features with the new cars and developing reporting for wider business use.
Skills
I have learnt a range of new skills including: 'Soft Skills' such as: - Confidence in a corporate environment - Public speaking and presenting ability - Interaction with different cultural backgrounds across Europe and with Japanese colleagues - Project management skills including progress tracking, stakeholder and cost management 'Hard Skills' such as: - Vastly improved Excel skills including the ability to develop reports, analyzing tools and progress trackers - Improved PowerPoint skills to develop concise and effective presentations - New skills developed with PowerBI to generate improved reports - Learnt the corporate writing style for emails and customer-facing documents
Responsibilities
Yes I was given a large amount of responsibility but only when I was ready for it. Towards the end of my placement I was the main contact point for a number of smaller projects and was able to largely run meetings with suppliers and Branches by myself.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance from my colleagues, manager and other employees at the company. I never felt lost or overly stressed throughout the placement.
Culture
Company culture is very collaborative, most people will be genuinely interested in helping you regardless of seniority. Senior employees will also involve you in conversations regarding areas you are involved with and ask you for guidance when they need it. At all points I felt like a valued and useful employee.
Your Impressions
I greatly enjoyed this placement. It was a great way to introduce myself to the corporate world with extremely helpful and supportive co-workers and managers. I was given numerous opportunities to develop my skills and contribute to the company without ever feeling pressured or ignored.
