Overview
My role was in the Commercial Hematology team supporting the launch of a new therapy. My work was more project based starting with supporting country teams with their launch readiness. Then I moved into project managing the development of Patient Support material. I then worked on preparing for 2 International Congresses where Vertex had a commercial presence before finishing with working on developing an HCP website and other HCP material.
Skills
At my time at Vertex I learnt many new skills both technical skills and soft skills including Project management, Communication, Presentation, Vendor Management, Veeva Matrix, Pharmaceutical marketing, Product Knowledge, Hematology and much more
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility and empowered by colleagues to work on my own projects.
Support & Guidance
I received lots of support and guidance from my manager and team members. Everyone on the Heme team was very approachable and kind.
Culture
Company culture was great and included 'Wellness Wednesday's' where you would get an extended lunch break every Wednesday and regular social hours where everyone would get together after work for drinks and food. The general atmosphere was great
Your Impressions
Overall, I really enjoyed my placement. I was given the freedom to try out different areas of Commercial including Marketing, Project management and Patient support which really gave me a holistic understanding of how a new therapy is commercialized and what I should explore after I graduate. A highlight of my placement was working on an International Congress and then going out to Madrid to attend it in-person which was an amazing experience!
