  • Daily standups, fix code defects/feature additions to software (IP), collaborate with other members of the team from developers, testers and project owners accordingly. Network with other members at internal and external events. Complete training to reach development goals.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • My team were really understanding and knew that everything was a learning journey for me so even though I had work, there wasn't any time pressure on me. I did have enough work to keep me busy 9-5.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was very well supported, I had many points of contact. I had a buddy in the team to help me settle in, my manager and director were super friendly and everyone was open and willing to help when I was stuck. I also had a career mentor that helped me with my career development and goals.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I've not met a single person who wasn't friendly, open to talking and getting to know others. The work life balance is great as it is hybrid working and there are many social events to attend to get to know more people from different departments you may not meet in your base office.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I've really enjoyed my placement, 10/10 would recommend, I was given meaningful work, I had the opportunity to work with other members in the Early Careers Community and I really appreciate the hybrid working style.

  • Yes


  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to CGI
  • Be a good team player, inclusive and open minded. I was initially rejected at first as I wasn't fit for that specific team but the Early Careers team gave me another opportunity to speak to another team (where I was later accepted) so if you present well in the assessment centre, CGI will try to find a place elsewhere in the company.
